  • What are the workshop tracks in PDC 2024?
    NSBE PDC 2024 will have workshops in the the following tracks: Career Advancement & Technical Training This workshop track focuses on positioning for professional success through preparation, execution, and evaluation. Attendees will dive into strategies for successful job acquisition and career development in the technical workforce. This includes opportunities for technical training and certification. Leadership Empowerment This workshop track will provide professionals the tools and techniques to meet the challenges of breaking into management, sustaining leadership roles, and creating lasting cultural impact. This track will also teach skills to effectively maximize leadership mobility strategies to enter executive roles in a rapidly changing industry and modernized workplace. Personal Performance Improvement This workshop track will provide exposure to various mindset and performance coaching techniques. This track also incorporates conversations for mental, physical, and financial health. Technical Innovation & Entrepreneurship This workshop track will allow attendees to explore new trends in technology, provide a space for innovative thinkers to foster business ideas, and inspire collaboration across various technical learning communities.
  • What are the Evening of Excellence award categories?
    Entrepreneur of the Year This award aims to recognize an individual who embodies the entrepreneurial spirit. This person serves as an example for current and future business leaders and has a positive impact within their community. This person must serve as the CEO or president of a private or public company and have a direct role in the performance of the company. NSBE Professionals Small Business of the Year This award seeks to recognize the small business that has gone above and beyond to not only excel in their respective business area but also support the vision of the NSBE Professionals via partnership with a NSBE Professional Chapter(s). OUR People's Choice: Best Company This awards seeks to recognize an organization that remains consistently dedicated to the advancement of their Black Employees and the advancement of the NSBE mission as voted by professionals. This company focuses on creating opportunities for Black professionals to succeed within the company. Outstanding Technical Contribution This award aims to recognize an individual who has made exemplary technical contributions and achievements within their careers. Technical Professional Leader This award aims to recognize an established STEM leader who has contributed significantly through discovery and leadership to their field or organization. The significance of the nominee's technical contribution and professional character for the advancement of their field are of equal importance. Young Technical Professional on the Move This award seeks to recognize individuals within the first 5 years of their career and are making significant impacts within the workplace. These individuals are seen as emerging leaders within their organization while also making advancements within their community.

  • Who do I contact if I have registration issues?
    Please contact the NSBE PDC team at pdc@nsbe.org for all inquiries regarding 2024 NSBE PDC registration.
  • What is included in the registration fee?
    Motivating and informative workshops/events Curated personal and professional development opportunities Access to our Career Expo Networking opportunities at our events Events requiring advance registration are listed in the registration process.
  • Where do I list my dietary restrictions?
    You will provide your dietary restrictions during the registration process.
  • What methods of payment are accepted?
    You may complete your online registration with the following payment methods: American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. The billing address for the credit card must match the member’s address in their NSBE profile. If the address is correct and you receive an error message, email accounting@nsbe.org for assistance. We do not accept cash, money orders, purchase orders or checks (personal or cashiers) onsite. Registrants must complete payment before the event to obtain access. We will be unable to accommodate onsite/day-of changes. We can accept American Express, MasterCard, and Visa.
  • What is the #NSBEPDC refund and cancellation policy?
    Refund Request If you have registered and paid for the Professional Development Conference, you may be eligible for a refund, subject to the following conditions: Cancellations received before July 7, 2024 will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received July 8-31, 2024 will receive a 60% refund. Cancellations received after July 31 are eligible for a NSBE credit or the payment may be transferred to another individual. Credit Request If you have registered and paid for an Event or Program as a part of PDC, you may be eligible for NSBE credit up to the amount that was paid. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria: You must provide acceptable documentation as determined by the event authorizer. The burden of proof is on the participant. - You must submit your request for review at least 10 days before the first day of PDC. NSBE credit issued to your account is valid for twelve (12) months from the date it is issued and can be used for any NSBE Event/Program. Please note that requests submitted less than 10 days before the first day of PDC are not eligible for NSBE credit. Transfer Request If you have registered and paid for the Professional Development Conference, you can transfer your payment to another person. However, please note that if the amount paid by you is less than the registration fee for the person you are transferring the registration to, they will have to pay the difference. Transfer requests must be received no later than August 11, 2024. Transfer questions: membership@nsbe.org
  • Can I register onsite?
    We highly encourage attendees to register before #NSBEPDC. However, if necessary, onsite registration will be available. Payment can only be made with a credit or debit card; no cash or checks will be accepted onsite.
  • What is the NSBE Code of Conduct?
    NSBE is dedicated to the academic, professional, and cultural development of our students and professional members, as well as the development of ethically sensitive and responsible persons. It seeks to achieve these goals through sound academic and professional programming and through regulations and policies governing conduct that encourages independence, maturity and respect for the rights and viewpoints of others. Conduct at non-Society sponsored activities is viewed as the members’ personal business. Conduct at Society-sponsored events is expected to be in accordance with this Member Code of Conduct (hereafter referred to as “the Code”). The Society reserves the right to impose disciplinary sanctions or take other appropriate action when conduct is not in accordance with the Code.   • Where can I find the hotel for #NSBEPDC?

  • The hotel block is full, what should I do?
    Go directly to the hotel website and try to book a room Explore other hotel, AirBnB, or VRBO options in the area
  • Is NSBE requiring COVID-19 testing or proof of a negative COVID status?
    No. NSBE recommends that all #NSBEPDC attendees be fully vaccinated in accordance with the CDC guidelines. Boosters are strongly recommended but are not required.
  • Are masks required during #NSBE50?
    Wearing facial coverings throughout #NSBE50 is strongly recommended.
  • What should I do if I feel ill prior to arriving in DC or if I feel ill in DC?
    If an attendee tests positive for COVID-19, before, during, or after #NSBEPDC, we strongly recommend alerting NSBE’s Human Resources Department at hr@nsbe.org to enable us to make other attendees aware of who may have come in close contact.

  • What tips do you have for attendees looking for a job?
    Sign-up for the NSBE Career Center, www.careers.nsbe.org – many companies pre-screen candidates before the onsite Career Expo Research the companies you are most interested in speaking to Review and update your resume and LinkedIn profile Have your suit tailored and dry-cleaned Have a digital copy of your resume available to share Network and make connections! It will be one of the best takeaways during NSBE PDC

    No, the Career Expo will be held in person at the Grand Hyatt Washington.
